Exercising yourself in godliness

Relearning the fundamentals of spiritual growth

Most men want to grow spiritually, but distractions keep getting in the way of discipleship. There is a gap between the man in the mirror and the husband, father, and church member that they would like to be. They hear lots of sermons about things they are meant to be doing, but they feel stuck and unable to change. They need more than a daily quiet time or occasional men's breakfast. They need a whole new approach to life.

Three Core Elements of Spiritual Growth

Spiritual Friendship

Isolation is killing men. Most Christian men haven't had intimate friendships since high school or university. Men need help breaking through isolation and recovering camaraderie. They need to be reminded that friendship is worth their time and effort.

Simple Routines

Men need help building a lifestyle of putting Christ first. They need training that develops the basic habits - like scripture memorization, focused prayer, and reading - that result in long-term growth. But men don't just need good habits; they need freedom from the bad habits that are impeding their spiritual growth. Small tweaks in their daily routines can produce lasting change.

Bodily-Discipline

Men need help bringing their body under control, so that they are free to put Christ first. Without bodily-discipline men conform to the world around them. Men need help developing the spiritual muscles that enable self-control.

Cross Training Ministries is hosting a conference for Christian men who want to be trained in the fundamentals of spiritual fitness.
